Like all mechanical systems, refrigeration equipment does require servicing.
Ideally a qualified engineer should inspect the equipment every six months.
We always advise customers to check the condenser monthly. The condenser looks something like a small car radiator and has a fan mounted behind it. It is this item that passes the heat extracted from the equipment to the surrounding air. No matter how clean your premises are, dust etc. will collect on the condenser and reduce its efficiency.
Most user manuals have instructions on how to clean the condenser and we recommend that these are observed.
We have found that the best way to clean the condenser is with a soft upholstery type brush attachment on a vacuum cleaner. Obviously the equipment should be switched off at the main electrical supply and you should only attempt this if you are confident of your safety and abilities.

Other items to keep an eye on are the door seals (Environmental Health Officers tend to be quite strict on the condition of these) and also the temperature. Most equipment should be capable of maintaining the required temperature by running for approximately 18 hours in every 24.
Please note that most systems will defrost automatically at regular intervals. If the temperature seems high then keep the door closed, leave for an hour and then check again. If the temperature is still high then it is a good idea to call for advice and/or an engineer.
